MPS EMPLOYEES ATTENDED THE ANNUAL FORUM "INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY – 21ST CENTURY"
On April 22, 2026, Moscow Patent Service employees attended the annual forum "Intellectual Property – 21st Century" dedicated to World Intellectual Property Day. There were discussed recent changes in intellectual property legislation, specifically the March Law on the protection of the Russian language and Rospotrebnadzor's recommendations for its compliance, as well as amendments to the Part 4 of the Russian Civil Code on the amount of compensation for infringement of exclusive rights and changes to the procedure for paying fees for trademark registration, which came into effect in October 2025.
The latest changes in judicial practice on intellectual property were also discussed, with a special focus on the positions of Rospatent and the courts in disputes regarding the confusing similarity of trade names of medicines.
Special attention was paid to 2026 trends in intellectual property, particularly the strengthening of the role of marketplaces in the fight against counterfeiting by providing them with direct access to the Rospatent registry for verifying intellectual property rights from April 1, 2026.
